A Jubo League activist, Jobayer Hossain Parvez, 32, was hacked to death in Chhagalnaiya upazila, Feni, on Saturday morning, June 27. Police recovered his body from the Nur Ahmed Masterbari area in Nijkunja village.

Parvez was the son of Abu Taher of Nijkunja village. The two accused brothers, Shahadat and Mamun, are sons of Sadek Mia of the same area.

According to Parvez's younger brother Sabbir Hasan Shitol, Parvez had offered a job at his shop to the accused brothers' younger brother on Friday and gave him a mobile phone. Mamun beat his younger brother over this incident. Later, an argument broke out between Parvez and Mamun over the phone, during which Parvez hit Mamun with a torchlight.

The victim's father, Abu Taher, alleged that Parvez and Mamun had been in Feni jail for a long time in multiple cases filed after the 2024 uprising. Parvez bore the expenses during that time, but Mamun did not contribute. After their release, a dispute arose over a local shop.

He alleged that on Friday night, after Parvez was returning home from the market around 2:00 am, Mamun and Shahadat, who were lying in wait near a pond beside the house, attacked him with sharp weapons. He was seriously injured. Locals recovered his body from the road in front of the house on Saturday morning.

Chhagalnaiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abu Taher said police visited the scene and prepared an inquest report. The body was sent to Feni General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

He said one person has been detained for preliminary questioning. Police operations are ongoing to arrest those involved.
