Jubo League leader dies at Sirajganj jail

A leader of the now-proscribed Jubo League has died while undergoing treatment at a hospital after falling ill at Sirajganj District Jail.

The deceased, Aminul Islam Litton (47), was the son of Haji Shamsul Alam from the Char Betkandi village in Beltail Union of Sirajganj's Shahjadpur Upazila. He was a former joint convener of the Beltail Union Jubo League .

Sirajganj Jail Superintendent Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter on Wednesday (July 15) afternoon.

He said that Aminul Islam Litton had been sent to jail on July 5 after being arrested in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act . He had been suffering from pre-existing heart and respiratory conditions .

He suddenly fell ill on Tuesday morning and was taken to Sirajganj 250-bed General Hospital, where he died around 10am while undergoing treatment .

The jail superintendent said the body was handed over to the family on Tuesday afternoon after an autopsy .
