Jubo Odhikar Parishad demands resignation of 2 advisers, DNCC administrator
Bangladesh Jubo Odhikar Parishad, a wing of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, has demanded the resignation of two government advisers—Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan—and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz, citing concerns over the neutrality of the interim government.
The demand was made during a protest rally held Friday afternoon in front of Al-Razi Complex in Dhaka’s Purana Paltan area.
Speakers at the rally urged the interim government to refrain from making critical decisions regarding the proposed economic corridor and the Chattogram port without public or political consensus.
Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad, stated that such decisions should not be made unilaterally by the government. He also referenced media reports alleging Mohammad Ejaz’s links with the banned group Hizb ut-Tahrir, warning that if he is not removed and arrested, the Chief Adviser’s residence in Jamuna will be surrounded in protest.
Party spokesperson and Senior Vice President Faruk Hasan criticized the interim government’s failure to bring stability to the country even after nine months in office. He further demanded that the national election schedule be announced by September.
The rally was presided over by Youth Rights Council President Manzur Morshed, with other leaders including Nazim Uddin and Rashed Hossain Sohel also addressing the gathering.
