The results of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) and Hall Union elections have begun to be officially announced. The Election Commission started declaring the results at the university’s Senate building after 5:15pm on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Professor Sohel Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), confirmed that the vote counting had been completed by 2:30pm.

Voting took place on Thursday, September 11, from 9am to 5pm across 21 residential halls of the university. Following the polls, ballot boxes were transported to the Senate building, and counting commenced shortly after 10pm.

Although the vote counting continued until Friday evening, the Election Commission temporarily suspended the process after convening an emergency meeting. Counting resumed around 7:30 PM on Friday. While the results were initially expected that night, the announcement was delayed twice, with a final decision to release the results by Saturday evening.

This year, a total of 11,743 students were eligible to vote, comprising 5,728 female and 6,015 male voters. The overall voter turnout was approximately 68%.
