'JUCSU poll results may be available by tomorrow noon'

Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and Hall Parliament poll EC Member Secretary Professor Rashidul Alam has said that the poll results will be available by Friday noon .

He said this on Thursday (September 11) evening.

The JUCSU EC Member Secretary said that the votes will be counted manually. "It may take till tomorrow morning or noon to get the results."

The voting, which started at 9am today, continued till 5pm. There are a total of 11,747 voters in the election. A total of 178 candidates have been finally approved to contest for various posts. Of these, 9 are contesting for the post of Vice President (VP), 9 for the post of General Secretary (GS), 6 for the post of Joint General Secretary (Female) and 10 for the post of Joint General Secretary (Male).

Voting was held at 224 booths in 21 halls of the university. Of these, 10 are female and 11 are male halls. Each center has one returning officer, 67 polling officers and 67 assistant polling officers.

Voters cast their votes (tick marks) on a total of 40 ballots, including the central and hall councils.

No female student has contested the VP position. Two out of the 15 candidates for GS are female. There are no female candidates for four other positions. There are no candidates for the 15 positions in the five women's halls.
