JUCSU vote counting halted
The counting of votes in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election has been halted for the time being. An emergency meeting is underway among returning officers to decide whether the counting will proceed through OMR or manual method.
The decision will be announced after the meeting. If not counted through OMR, the counting in the remaining three halls will remain suspended. Both students and candidates have expressed frustration over the manual counting method.
Earlier on Thursday, polling was held from 9am to 5pm. Although votes were supposed to be counted through the OMR system, objections from several panels, including Chhatra Dal, led to manual counting.
As a result, even after nearly 20 hours since the election, the Election Commission has not been able to complete the counting of hall union votes.
