The Amar Ekushey Book Fair has officially kicked off after overcoming various challenges. This year's theme is 'July Mass Uprising: Building a New Bangladesh.'

The month-long fair was inaugurated on Saturday (February 1) at 4.00 pm at the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government.

The book fair has grown in both size and the number of stalls compared to last year. However, many stalls are still not fully set up.

Vendors have stated that they were unable to bring all the books at once, but assured that the remaining setup will be completed within the next couple of days.

This year, the fair introduces a new feature, the 'July Chattar.' In addition to honoring the language martyrs and freedom fighters, the fair also pays tribute to those who lost their lives in the 'July Movement.' The ‘July Chattar’ is featured to immortalize the movement and capture its essence.

To reflect this, the fair has chosen red, black, and white as its theme colors—red for revolution, black for mourning, and white for the light of hope.
