July Memorial Museum to showcase 16 years of Hasina’s misrule: CA
All the stories of Sheikh Hasina's 16-year misrule, have been curated to display at the July Memorial Museum, said Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.
He saud: "Bringing this feeling of building strong resistance against misrule among the people is a big task of this museum."
He made the remarks when museum construction authority met him at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday (September 20) afternoon.
During the meeting, the construction authority told the Chief Adviser that All the stories of Sheikh Hasina's 16-year misrule including the Pilkhana massacre, the disappearance-murder-aynaghor, the Shapla Chattar massacre and vote robbery, will be featured in the form of historical information at the museum.
This information was revealed in a press release sent by the Chief Adviser's press wing.
According to it, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said the museum is expected to be completed by 31 October, with an inauguration planned for the first week of November.
"We are curating images and materials to ensure the history of 16 years of misrule is preserved," he said.
Tanjim Wahab, chief curator, said the museum is being developed in coordination with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) prosecution team and the commission for investigation into disappearances.
"Stories of the 16 years of rule will be presented in sequence, showing how Sheikh Hasina governed the country," he said.
Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui added that audio recordings of orders for disappearances and murders, as well as accounts of victims' families receiving false assurances, will be part of the exhibits.
The museum will also feature a screening centre for documentaries on this period, he added.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus thanked everyone involved in the construction of the museum. He expressed the hope that those who will come to this museum will feel the throng of people at Ganabhaban on August 5.
Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Mohammad Tajul Islam, Member of the Commission of Inquiry on Disappearances Dr Nabila Idris, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md. Mofidur Rahman, Chairperson of the Governing Body of the Bangladesh National Museum Marina Tabassum were present.
Among the researchers of the July Memorial Museum were Daniel Afzalur Rahman, poet Hasan Robayet, Maliha Namlaha, museum artists Tejash Halder Josh, Mosfiqur Rahman Johan, museum architect Salauddin Ahmed and coordinator Hasan Enam.
