Justice must be served through law, not mob justice: Rizvi
Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has emphasized that no matter how serious the crime, justice must be delivered through the legal system, not through mob justice.
Rizvi made the remarks on Tuesday (June 24) after paying tribute at the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman at Chandrima Udyan, alongside leaders and activists of the newly formed Brahmanbaria district BNP committee.
He strongly condemned mob justice and vigilantism, stating that neither he nor his party supports such unlawful acts.
Criticizing the last three elections, Rizvi described them as “a one-sided theatrical show” led by Sheikh Hasina, accusing the election commissioners of complicity in what he called fascist practices. Nevertheless, he insisted that even the most serious offenders must be tried according to the law, not through mob justice.
He called on the government to prioritize maintaining law and order and to take firm action against illegal activities like mob justice ahead of the upcoming national elections.
Rizvi also expressed concern over the rising severity of COVID-19 and the worsening dengue situation in the country, accusing the government of failing to take effective measures to combat these public health crises. He urged the government to take immediate and effective steps in the health sector to protect the people.
Earlier, on June 23, Rizvi demanded legal action against individuals who misbehaved with former Election Commissioner Nurul Huda in court.
