The Meteorological Department has forecast that Kalbaisakhi storm will blow over eight regions of the country today.

Rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusts or squally winds from the west or northwest may blow over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh and Sylhet regions by noon on Wednesday (May 13).

The wind speed during the storm in these areas is likely to be 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. In such a situation, river ports in the concerned areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.

Meanwhile, after passing a rainless day yesterday, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the capital Dhaka and its surrounding areas today. According to the 7 am forecast of the Meteorological Office, the sky in Dhaka may remain temporarily partly cloudy till 1 pm. Along with this, if rain is seen, the scorching heat of the last few days may subside somewhat and the daytime temperature may decrease slightly.

According to statistics, the temperature in Dhaka has increased slightly today compared to yesterday. At 6 am today, the minimum temperature in the capital was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, which was only 24 degrees Celsius the previous day. Due to the lack of rain for a day, the temperature in Dhaka has increased by about 2 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department also said that although the effect of Kalbaisakhi is likely to be more in the northern and northeastern regions, the weather situation across the country may change slightly after noon.
