Kazi Nazrul Islam's grandson Babul placed on life support

Babul Kazi, the grandson of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, has been placed on life support due to severe burns sustained in a gas lighter explosion in his bathroom.

Due to the significant deterioration in his condition, the medical team has made the decision to shift him on life support unit.

Shaon Bin Rahman, physician (emergency department) of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, confirmed the update on Sunday morning (January 19).

Earlier, a 16-member medical board was formed to oversee his treatment. Babul Kazi suffered burns on 74% of his body from the explosion, which occurred around 5.00am on Saturday, January 18, at his Banani residence in the capital. He was later admitted to the ICU in critical condition.
