Khaleda returns home from London
A special air ambulance carrying BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia returned home following four months of advanced medical treatment in London.
The ambulance provided by Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, as scheduled, at 10:38am.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other party leaders and activists welcomed her at the airport.
Tarique's wife Zubaida Rahman, his late brother Arafat Rahman Koko's wife Syeda Sharmila Rahman and Khaleda Zia's personal physician Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain accompanied the former premier.
Thousands of leaders and activists gathered in front of the airport to greet her.
Ahead of her arrival, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police yesterday issued a 10-point directive to ensure security and smooth traffic flow.
The BNP has made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth, hassle-free journey from the airport to her Gulshan residence while seeking to avoid public inconvenience.
Located at House 1, Road 80 in Gulshan, her residence, Firoza, has been thoroughly cleaned and decorated, said BNP Chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan.
On January 8, Khaleda flew to London in a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar.
