BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital for urgent medical tests. Speaking on Sunday night (November 23), her personal physician Professor AZM Zahid Hossain confirmed the development. He said that, following the advice of the medical board formed for her treatment, she has been admitted to Evercare Hospital for several tests. She is currently in a cabin. Further decisions will be taken after the board reviews the test reports. Khaleda Zia was last admitted to this hospital on October 15, when she stayed for a day for routine medical examinations. The 79-year-old former prime minister has long been suffering from arthritis, diabetes, kidney and lung complications, and various eye-related issues.

স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষা জন্য রাতে এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হয়েছেন বিএনপি চেয়ারপার্সন ও সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া। আজ রোববার রাত ৮টায় তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত চিকিৎসক অধ্যাপক এজেডএম জাহিদ হোসেন একথা জানান। তিনি বলেন, ‘ম্যাডামের জন্য গঠিত যে মেডিকেল বোর্ড আছে তাদের পরামর্শক্রমে কিছু পরীক্ষার জন্য এভারকেয়ার হসপিটালে ম্যাডামকে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। উনি কেবিনে আছেন। টেস্টের রিপোর্টগুলো বোর্ড পর্যালোচনার পরে পরবর্তী সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হবে।' সর্বশেষ গত ১৫ অক্টোবর বিএনপি চেয়ারপার্সন এই হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হয়েছিলেন। একদিন থেকে স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষা সম্পন্ন করেন। ৭৯ বছর বয়সি খালেদা জিয়া বহু বছর ধরে আর্থ্রাইটিস, ডায়াবেটিস, কিডনি, ফুসফুস, চোখের সমস্যাসহ নানা জটিলতায় ভুগছেন।
