BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has departed London for Dhaka after completing a four-month stay in the United Kingdom for advanced medical treatment.

She left Heathrow Airport at 9:10 PM (local time) on Monday, May 5, aboard a special air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar. Accompanying her on the flight are her daughter-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Sharmila Rahman Sinthi, and other members of her entourage.

According to BNP’s media cell, the air ambulance is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:30 AM on Tuesday.

Khaleda Zia traveled to the UK on January 7 this year for medical treatment. She was admitted to a specialized clinic in London the following day, where she underwent 17 days of treatment. Since January 25, she had been under home-based care at the residence of her eldest son, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Her treatment was supervised by renowned specialists including Professor Patrick Kennedy and Professor Jennifer Cross.

This was not her first visit to the UK for medical purposes. In 2017, Khaleda Zia traveled to London for follow-up treatment related to her eyes and feet, staying for about three months before returning to Bangladesh on October 18 of that year.
