The special air ambulance arranged by the Emir of Qatar will not arrive in Dhaka on Friday. Subject to schedule clearance, it is expected to land in Bangladesh on Saturday.

Consequently, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s transfer to London has been postponed. She is now likely to be flown out on Sunday (7 December), pending medical approval.

Quoting BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khaleda Zia's media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter.

He said that due to the delay in the arrival of the Qatar Emir’s special air ambulance, the plan to take Khaleda Zia to London is being postponed.

Shairul explained that a technical issue prevented the air ambulance from arriving today. If all goes well, it may land in Dhaka on Saturday.

He added: “If Madam’s physical condition is suitable for travel and the medical board approves, then InshaAllah she will fly on 7 December (Sunday).”

Meanwhile, to assist with arrangements for Khaleda Zia’s transfer to London, Dr. Zubaida Rahman—wife of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman—is already on her way to Dhaka. Her flight departed London after 6 p.m. local time.

Eighty-year-old Khaleda Zia has long been suffering from liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and several complications involving her kidneys, lungs, heart, and eyes.
