Khaleda Zia named member of Fulgazi upazila BNP committee

Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been appointed as a member of the Fulgazi upazila BNP committee in her ancestral home district of Feni.

The full committees for six unions under Fulgazi upazila were announced on the night of 25 September. Khaleda Zia has been named the No. 1 member of the Fulgazi Sadar union committee. She has been repeatedly elected as the Member of Parliament from the Feni-1 constituency, which includes Fulgazi upazila.

Each union now has a 10-member advisory council and a 71-member executive committee. The committees were approved by Fulgazi upazila BNP Convener Fakhrul Alam Swapon and Member Secretary Abul Hossain Bhuiyan.

Monir Ahmad has been appointed president and Md Yasin Mahmud Mozumder general secretary of the Fulgazi Sadar union committee.

Fakhrul Alam Swapon said the formation of the full committees will strengthen grassroots BNP activities. “Ahead of the upcoming national election, party leaders and activists will work together at the field level to mobilize support,” he added.

Khaleda Zia is expected to contest the upcoming election from the Feni-1 constituency.
