Khaleda Zia sends envoy to DMCH to check on injured Nur
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has expressed deep concern over the condition of Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, who was seriously injured during a clash with army and police personnel on Friday night.
According to a statement posted on BNP’s verified Facebook page at around 2am Saturday, Khaleda Zia dispatched her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to assess Nur's condition.
The statement said that Khaleda Zia has condemned the attack and urged hospital authorities to ensure proper treatment for the injured leader. She is also praying for his swift and full recovery.
Nurul Haque sustained a head injury and a fractured nose during a police and army baton charge amid clashes between Jatiya Party and Gono Odhikar Parishad supporters.
DMCH Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman stated that Haque had suffered significant blood loss but has since regained consciousness. However, doctors caution that his condition will remain critical for the next 48 hours.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from political parties across the spectrum, including the interim government.
A high-level medical board has been formed at DMCH to oversee Haque’s treatment.
