Khaleda Zia to contest from Bogura-7, Dinajpur-3 and Feni-1 constituencies

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced the names of candidates for 237 seats ( first phase) of the 13th parliamentary elections.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest from Dinajpur-3, Bogura-7 and Feni-1 constituencies while party Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will contest from Bogura-6 constituency. Besides, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will contest from Thakurgaon-1 constituency.

Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the names of the candidates at a press conference at the Chairperson's office in Gulshan on Monday afternoon.

Before the announcement of the candidates, an emergency meeting of the BNP's highest policy-making forum standing committee was held at 12:30pm.

The meeting, which lasted about five hours, was presided over by party Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who joined virtually from London.

The meeting finalized the party candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections and decided on the course of action in the ongoing political situation.

The parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in the first half of February. The election schedule will be announced in early December, the Election Commission said.
