Khaleda Zia visits Zia’s grave after 7 yrs
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has visited the grave of the party’s founder and late President Ziaur Rahman after a gap of seven years.
She arrived at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar graveyard around 11pm on Wednesday (October 8) and stayed for about 20 minutes, offering prayers and munajat. She left the site at approximately 11:20pm for her Gulshan residence, Firoza.
Earlier, she departed from her residence around 10:30pm
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and several senior and local leaders accompanied her during the visit.
The party’s Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, confirmed the development to the media.
A BNP organising secretary said the decision to visit the mausoleum was made suddenly, and therefore, other party members had not been informed in advance.
