Khulna University student killed in road crash

A student of Khulna University was killed in a road accident in Khulna on Monday evening (March 30), police said.

The deceased, Moumita Halder, 26, a law student, died after a speeding private car struck the rickshaw she was travelling in around 7:30pm near the district council area.

According to police and witnesses, the car hit the rickshaw from behind, throwing her onto the road and causing serious head and neck injuries.

She was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Family members said her father sustained minor injuries in the incident.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Rezaul Karim expressed condolences over her death, while teachers, officials and students also mourned the loss.

Police confirmed the incident and said further legal action is underway.
