Krishak League leader attacked dies, complaint filed against him at police station
Krishak League leader Kamrul Hasan Mithu, 40, has died after being attacked in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi. After the incident, the accused filed a written complaint against him at the police station. Later, when Mithu died, the police identified that person as the accused in the murder.
The deceased Mithu was the general secretary of Jehanabad Union Krishak League in Mohanpur upazila. His home is in Karisa Durgapur village. He died around 9:30pm while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Saturday (March 28).
Police said that the accused Md. Saddam, 28, is the nephew of the deceased Mithu. He has been in hiding since the incident.
Sub-Inspector Yamin Ali of Mohanpur Police Station reported that on Friday afternoon (27 March), Mithu was irrigating his own land when a pipe burst, causing some water to flow into Saddam’s onion field on a neighboring plot.
Angered by this, Saddam allegedly attacked Mithu with a sharp weapon, leaving him seriously injured. Locals rushed Mithu to the hospital for treatment.
Police also said that, Saddam went to the police station and filed a written complaint against Mithu, showing signs of injury to his head on Saturday evening. Mithu died a few hours after filing the complaint while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Saddam has been absconding since then.
Preparations are underway to file a murder case against Saddam in this incident. Police said that the body will be handed over to the family after the autopsy at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue on Sunday.
