Bangladesh, China, and Pakistan have agreed to collaborate in 12 key sectors following a recent tripartite meeting held in Kunming, China. This was announced by the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, after a seminar in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The seminar, titled “China-Bangladesh Industrial and Supply Chain Cooperation,” was organized by the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB) and took place at the Westin Hotel. Ambassador Yao Wen was the special guest at the event.

Speaking to journalists after the seminar, Yao Wen said the three countries reached consensus to work together in areas including trade, industry, environment, water resource management, and cultural cooperation. He highlighted that mutual trust is the foundation of this trilateral partnership.

He emphasized that the meeting was not aimed at targeting any other country.

On the topic of the United States’ new tariff policies, the ambassador stated that China is taking measures to safeguard its interests and advised Bangladesh to also adopt protective strategies.

Regarding Bangladesh’s economic challenges, Yao Wen expressed confidence in the country’s ability to overcome instability, saying, “Bangladesh has the capacity to navigate through economic difficulties.”

When asked about his recent meeting with representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami, Yao Wen said China is keen to enhance cooperation between Jamaat-e-Islami and the Communist Party of China. He clarified that Bangladesh’s elections were not discussed, as election matters remain strictly a domestic issue.
