Labour law to be amended soon: Adviser

Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain said that the labor law will be amended soon, protecting the interests of both workers and employers.

He said this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Wednesday (April 30).

The adviser said that labour rights and labor interests will be given priority in the amended law.

Stating that the matter will be finalized after a meeting with the International Labor Organization (ILO) in June, he added that various programs, including a procession, have been organized in the capital on Thursday (May 1) morning to mark the May Day.

The adviser said that awards will be given to the winners of essays and essay writing at the university, college and school levels to celebrate the May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2025. On the occasion of the celebration of the Great May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day, 2025, quality news/still images published/broadcast/displayed on labor rights will be verified and awards will be given to journalists/reporters/cameramen. A rally has been organized tomorrow morning. Documentaries and TVCs will be broadcast to highlight the contribution of hardworking people.

Seminars have already been organized in various districts. Arrangements have been made to send short messages to all mobile phone subscribers with the theme of the Great May Day, 'Workers-Employers Unite, Let's Build This Country anew'
