Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has called for maintaining peace, harmony and brotherhood on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

He made this call after the first Eid congregation at the mosque adjacent to the Hazrat Shah Makhdum Ruposh (Rah.) shrine in the city's Dargapara at 8am on Saturday. After a month of fasting, Eid is celebrated in Rajshahi like the rest of the country with religious solemnity and joy.

Congregations were held at various Eidgahs and mosques in the city on the morning of Eid. After the prayers, the devotees participated in special prayers for the peace of the country, nation and the world. At the same time, leaders at various levels called for forgetting violence and hatred and remaining united in the bond of harmony.

The first congregation began at 8am and ended at 8:20pm. Later, the second congregation was held at the same place at 8:45am. Due to adverse weather conditions, this year the prayers were offered at the mosque adjacent to the shrine instead of the central Eidgah.

The Land Minister said, I thank Allah for being able to offer Eid prayers despite the adverse weather conditions. Everyone must remain united to move the country forward. He also said that development activities will be implemented step by step as per the election promises and the bond of brotherhood must be kept unbroken in the spirit of Eid.

Rajshahi District Council Administrator, Veteran Freedom Fighter Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton and senior administration officials participated in the congregation. Divisional Commissioner Dr. A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid, Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Rajshahi Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Mohammad Shahjahan and other officials were present.

Meanwhile, MP Shafiqul Haque Milon, who participated in the Eid congregation at Jinnahnagar Jame Mosque in the city, said, "Eid teaches us brotherhood and harmony. We must forget all differences and work together for the development of the country."

City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said that due to adverse weather conditions, it was not possible to organize the congregation at the six designated Eidgahs. As a result, Eid prayers were held at various mosques in the city.

Congregations were held at various places including Jinnahnagar Jame Mosque, Sahebbazar Zero Point Mosque, Tikapara Mosque, and University Mosque.
