Police have detained Arman, the latest accused in the murder case of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin, confirming a breakthrough in the investigation. The arrest was made late Monday night, said Robiul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (Crime-North) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.

Tuhin’s elder brother Selim had filed the case on August 8, naming unknown individuals as suspects. Since then, eight people, including Arman, have been detained in connection with the case.

CCTV footage identified Arman wearing a blue shirt at the crime scene. Authorities have yet to disclose details about his background or the exact location of his arrest in the capital.

On August 12, Tuhin’s wife and family members are scheduled to meet GMP Commissioner Dr. Najmul Karim and later hold a press briefing.

Tuhin, a staff reporter for the daily Protidin, was stabbed to death in public near Masjid Market at Chandana Crossroad on August 7. He lived in Gazipur’s Paler Maath area with his wife and two young sons.
