Law enforcement to be deployed for 9 days during election: Home Adviser

Home AdviserLt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that law enforcement agencies will be active for nine days during the election, with major operations taking place five days before polling.

He said this to journalists on Saturday, November 15 around 2:30 pm in front of Patuakhali Circuit House.

In response to a question about whether any special operation will be conducted before the election, the adviser said law enforcement will be deployed for nine days. They will remain active for five days before the election, on polling day and for the next three days. Major operations will take place in the five days before voting.

Currently, the army has 30,000 personnel deployed. During the election period, around one lakh army members, one lakh fifty thousand police, thirty-five thousand BGB, five thousand navy, four thousand coastguard, eight thousand RAB and about five and a half lakh Ansar members will be deployed.

He added that there is no scope for doubt regarding election security. The election will be held very peacefully.

Afterwards, the home adviser left to inspect Patuakhali Police Lines and the Coast Guard station. He will then visit the naval police and tourist police camp in Kuakata, spend the night there and travel to Barishal the next morning before heading to Dhaka.
