Law enforcers fully prepared for national election: Home Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has confirmed that Bangladesh’s law enforcement agencies are fully prepared for the upcoming national parliamentary election.
He made the remarks during a meeting with German Ambassador Dr. Rüdiger Lotz at his office in the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 18).
“We hope the election will be held on schedule. Regardless of the date announced by the Election Commission, law enforcement is ready to ensure a smooth process,” he said.
The discussion also covered post-verdict public response, possible election dates and preparations, prisoner repatriation, cybercrime, and overall law and order.
On the post-verdict situation, the adviser said law and order is normal, with only minor isolated incidents, and warned that strict action would be taken against attempts to disrupt stability.
He added that crime is under control and emphasised that people can now freely express their opinions, which was not fully possible over the past 15 years.
Political Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Khondakar Md. Mahabubur Rahman and Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy, Anja Carsten also attended the meeting.
