Law Minister Calls for awareness against drugs and extremism

Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman urged people to remain vigilant so that drugs and extremism do not engulf society on Friday.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an Eid reunion programme held at Sheikhpara Dukkhi Mahmud Degree College in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.

“We must ensure that drugs and extremism do not take hold of society. Everyone must remain aware,” the minister said.

He also called on people to stay away from what he described as “anti-social forces,” warning against extremist activities in the area.

Referring to local concerns, he said certain groups were reportedly active in spreading extremist influence under the guise of religious activities, and urged students and citizens to remain alert.

“As former students of this institution, I request you to be conscious. You are my partners in protecting society from the grip of extremism and drugs,” he added.

Local BNP leaders, including Shailkupa Upazila BNP General Secretary Humayun Babur Firoz, Mozammel Hossain Tojam, and former Union Parishad Chairman Sabdar Hossain Molla, were present at the event.

Teachers, former students and current students of the college also attended the programme.
