Letter sent to CEC to administer oath to newly elected MPs

Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin will administer the oath to the victorious candidates as members of parliament in the 13th National Parliamentary Election tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17. The Parliament Secretariat has sent a letter to the CEC requesting him to administer the oath. The EC has received the letter.

EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed confirmed this information on Monday evening, February 16. He said, "We received the letter sent from the Parliament Secretariat a short while ago."

Parliament Secretariat Secretary Kaniz Mowla informed that the oath-taking ceremony will be held in the oath room of the National Parliament from 10 am on Tuesday. The oath-taking may take place in several phases. If so, it will be group-wise according to groups.

The Election Commission has published the gazette for those elected as members of parliament in 297 seats from the election held on February 12.

According to the constitution, in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the CEC can administer the oath to elected members of parliament. This will be happening for the first time.
