The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has revoked the licences of 49 recruiting agencies that had been sending workers to Malaysia.

The order was issued through a notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Rashida Akhter on Sunday (July 19), with the matter coming to light through ministry sources on Monday (July 20).

The notification stated that as per the conditions of the licences issued to recruiting agencies, they are obligated to comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including the 'Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Act, 2013,' the 'Foreign Employment and Migrants (Amendment) Act, 2023,' and other applicable rules. However, charge sheets have been filed and accepted in court against these agencies under sections 406/420/385/386/427/34 of the Penal Code, 1860 .
