Lieutenant Tawkir laid to rest in Rajshahi
Flight Lieutenant Tawkir Islam Sagar, who was killed in the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari area, was laid to rest in his hometown of Rajshahi.
On Tuesday (22 July) at around 5 PM, he was buried with full military honors at the Sapura Graveyard in the city. Senior officials from the Army, Air Force, and Police were present at the funeral.
Earlier in the day, his first funeral prayer (janaza) was held at the Kurmitola Parade Ground in Dhaka. Following the janaza, his body was flown to Rajshahi, arriving at around 3:20 PM.
From the airport, his body was taken to the family residence in the city’s Upashahar area, where relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances gathered to bid him a final farewell.
At 4:30 PM, a second janaza was held at the Rajshahi District Stadium. After the prayer, his body was taken to the Sapura Graveyard for burial.
According to family sources, Tawkir was admitted to Pabna Cadet College in 2010 as a 7th-grade student. He later joined the Bangladesh Air Force in 2016.
