Lightning strike kills husband, wife in Kurigram

A husband and wife were killed when lightning struck their home in the remote char area of Saheber Alga Union, Ulipur, on Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as farmer Jahangir Hossain, 42, and his wife Rubi Begum, 35.

According to family members and local sources, the couple were inside their home while their three children were in an adjacent room. The lightning strike killed Jahangir and Rubi on the spot, but the children remained unharmed.

Mozzaffar Hossain, chairman of Saheber Alga Union Parishad, said the couple had four children, one of whom is already married. “The tragic deaths have cast a shadow of grief over the community,” he added.

Ulipur Police Station OC Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating that authorities reached the scene promptly and handed the bodies over to the family.
