Limited banking services available today amid Eid holiday

Despite the ongoing Eid-ul-Adha holidays, several bank branches across the country will remain open today (Thursday) for a limited period to facilitate urgent transactions.

According to a recent directive issued by the Department of Offsite Supervision (DOS) of Bangladesh Bank, authorized dealer (AD) branches in Dhaka, Chattogram, and other major commercial hubs will operate from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with transaction services available from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The move aims to support critical foreign exchange dealings and transactions related to the pharmaceutical industry, import-export businesses, and other essential sectors.

Bangladesh Bank also confirmed that staff working during the holiday will be compensated with appropriate allowances in accordance with existing regulations.

This directive, issued under Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991, has been communicated to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks nationwide.
