Livestock Directorate flags against fake import permit circulating online
The Department of Livestock Services has issued a warning over a fraudulent permit being circulated on social media, falsely claiming approval for cattle imports from India.
In a statement issued on Saturday (May 2), signed by Md. Mamun Hasan, senior officer at the Information and Public Relations Department, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock said that the alleged “import permit” has recently surfaced on various online platforms and social media in the name of the Livestock Directorate.
Preliminary verification found the document to be fake, misleading, and intentionally fabricated, the statement said.
It added that no official approval, record, or procedural linkage exists between the circulated document and the Directorate of Livestock Services.
The authority confirmed that the permit is not authentic and was not issued by the department.
According to the ministry, the information, reference numbers, and signatures used in the document are unverifiable and do not correspond to any legitimate government authorisation process.
The ministry has urged the public, traders, and stakeholders not to rely on or act upon such false documents, and to avoid sharing or spreading unverified information.
It also warned that legal action may be taken against individuals involved in producing or circulating misleading information.
The authorities advised everyone to rely only on official sources, including the Directorate of Livestock Services website, for accurate information regarding livestock imports and related approvals.
