Local govt polls to begin from September-October: State Minister

Mir Shahe Alam has said that local government elections in Bangladesh will begin from September-October this year.

He also said the five tiers of local government elections would be completed within the next one year.

The state minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists in Bogura regarding the appointment of an administrator for the newly formed Bogura City Corporation on Tuesday (May 19).

He said the schedule of the elections would depend on budget availability and that the authorities would decide which polls would be held first accordingly.

According to him, the local government election process will begin with the Union Parishad polls, followed gradually by elections requiring larger budgets.
