The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has reported the formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and surrounding regions. In anticipation of strong winds in coastal areas and near the seaports, Local Warning Signal No. 3 has been issued for Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports.

The weather alert, signed by meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana, was issued on Wednesday (June 25).

According to the alert, the low-pressure system is causing increased differences in air pressure over the northern Bay of Bengal. As a result, gusty or squally winds may occur in the region and along the coastal areas of Bangladesh.

As a precaution, the four seaports have been advised to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 3. Additionally, fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to stay close to the coast, navigate carefully, and avoid venturing into the deep sea until further notice.
