Low pressure over Bay, signal 3 issued
Various parts of the country including the capital, have experienced rain since Sunday morning. In the meantime, a low pressure has formed in the Bay of Bengal at the beginning of autumn. As a result, the rain may increase from Wednesday.
The Meteorological Department said that a low pressure has formed in the west-central Bay of Bengal and the adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha in India. Due to this, all seaports in the country have been asked to display warning signal number 3.
Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa said that the last low pressure that was formed has lost its strength. The impact of the low pressure that has been formed now may also be the same. There may be intermittent rain like the last few days. However, the amount of rain will increase slightly from Wednesday. This rain may continue from August 25 to 26.
The Meteorological Department says that the seaports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to display local warning signal number 3. Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal have been asked to approach the coast with caution until further notice.
Dhaka and surrounding areas received 54 mm of rainfall today, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said. The forecast said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at some places in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions in the next 24 hours. Along with this, moderate to heavy rain is likely to occur at some places across the country.
