A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low, prompting the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) to forecast increased rainfall and thunderstorms across the country for the next five days.

Regions including Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet are expected to experience widespread showers, with some areas likely to see moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds.

While daytime temperatures may drop slightly, nighttime temperatures are expected to remain mostly unchanged.

The BMD also warns of possible heavy downpours and strong winds along coastal regions due to the system strengthening near the Odisha-Andhra coast.

Rain is forecast at some places in Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi and Dhaka from Saturday (September 27). During this time, day and night temperatures may slightly decrease across the country.

According to BMD forecast, thunderstorms are likely on Sunday (September 28) in several areas of Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, with isolated incidents expected in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions. Similar conditions may persist through Monday (September 29).

On Tuesday (September 30), light rain is expected in parts of Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at isolated spots in the remaining divisions. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

The extended five-day forecast indicates an increasing trend of rainfall nationwide, with a possibility of heavy showers in southern regions and gale-force winds along the coastal areas.
