Madrasa headmaster arrested for outraging two students in Cumilla

Police arrested a madrasa teacher for allegedly outraging two male students in Cumilla's Burichang Upazila.

The incident took place around 11pm at Kangshanagar Markazut Tahfiz Hifz Madrasa in the upazila on August 25.

The arrested madrasa teacher, Md. Ibrahim Khalil, 30, is the founder and headmaster of Kangshanagar Markazut Tahfiz Hifz Madrasa and the son of the late Ohidur Rahman from Banguri village, Debidwar Upazila.

The child's father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Burichang Police Station on Friday (August 29).

According to police, the students were called to the headmaster’s office under the pretext of a massage but were forcibly assualted. Locals apprehended Ibrahim Khalil on Thursday (August 28) around 9pm, after which police arrested him and brought him to the station.

Azizul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Burichang Police Station, said, "Ibrahim Khalil had a previous rape case pending against him and was out on bail for raping his cousin."

"He was sent to jail through the court on Friday afternoon," the OC added.

Following the incident, the guardians of the madrasa students have taken their children home, though other teachers remain at the madrasa. Burichang Police Station OC Azizul Haque confirmed that the accused was sent to jail through the court on Friday afternoon.
