Madrasa principal arrested over student sexual abuse allegations in Savar

Police have arrested Maulana Golam Rabbani, the principal of a local madrasa, on charges of sexually abusing a student in Savar, Dhaka. A case has been filed against him under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

The case was officially recorded at Savar Model Thana following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's family on Tuesday night (June 16).

According to the police, law enforcement officials conducted a raid in the Tetuljhora area immediately after the case was filed and apprehended Maulana Golam Rabbani, the principal of Shamsul Ulum Khadimul Islam Madrasa.

Case documents and police sources reveal that investigators looked into the matter promptly after receiving the written complaint from the student's family. Legal action was initiated after preliminary investigations corroborated the allegations.

The revelation of the incident has sparked widespread anxiety and outrage among local guardians and residents. They have demanded a thorough investigation and exemplary punishment for the accused.

Savar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nur Mohammad stated that following the registration of the case based on the complaint, the accused has been forwarded to the court. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
