Madrasa teacher arrested for allegedly sexually abusing 8-year-old student
A madrasa teacher has been arrested in Patiya upazila, Chattogram, on charges of sexually abusing an eight-year-old student for a long period. Three students of the same madrasa have also been accused of assisting him in the abuse. The arrest has caused widespread shock in the area.
According to local sources and police, the Class II student of the Azizia Naziria Tahfizul Quran Madrasa in Ishwarkhain Chowdhuripara, Dhalghat union, had been suffering from physical issues for some time. Initially, family members thought it was a piles-related problem. However, after medical tests and consultations, doctors suspected sexual abuse.
Upon questioning by family members, the child revealed that madrasa teacher Aziz Ullah had sexually abused him, with three other students assisting him. The child claimed the abuse had been ongoing for about a year.
Police sources said family members initially tried to file a case but were urged by several madrasa teachers not to take legal action, claiming it could lead to the madrasa being shut down.
Patiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ziaul Haque said accused teacher Aziz Ullah has been arrested. The other three accused have been asked to appear at the police station. He was later sent to court under Section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code as a suspect.
The OC further said no case has been filed by the victim's family yet. If a case is filed, he will be named as an accused and necessary legal action will be taken against the others.
