Madrasa teacher attempts rape, stabs student for resisting in Munshiganj

A madrasa teacher has been accused of attempting to rape a student in a forest in Tongibari upazila, Munshiganj, and stabbing her when she resisted. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, June 11, in the West Sonarang area of the upazila. The accused teacher, Hafez Lokman Hossain, has been on the run since the incident.

According to local sources and police, the teacher took the student to a secluded forest in the West Sonarang area and attempted to rape her. When the student resisted, he repeatedly attacked her neck and hands with a sharp weapon. Hearing the student's screams, locals rushed to the spot, prompting the teacher to flee.

Locals rescued the critically injured student and took her to Tongibari Upazila Health Complex. When her condition deteriorated, the on-duty doctor referred her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Tongibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shamim confirmed the incident and said police are conducting operations to arrest the accused teacher. Necessary legal action will be taken against him.

The accused, Lokman Hossain, is a resident of Char Fasson upazila in Bhola district. He served as the imam of Tongibari's Sonarang Old Jame Mosque and as a teacher at the Khilpara Sunnatul Madina Madrasa.
