Madrasa teacher detained over sexual assault of 12-year-old student

A madrasa teacher has been detained in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj, over allegations of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old student.

The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday afternoon (August 19) in Ward No. 7 of Narayanganj City Corporation.

The detained teacher was identified as Mohammad Abdullah, 21, police said.

According to police, Abdullah allegedly took the student into a room and sexually assaulted him. The child later told his mother about the incident, following which she contacted police.

Siddhirganj Police Inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman said Abdullah had been detained and that preparations were underway to file a case over the allegations.

Police said further legal action would follow based on the investigation.
