Madrasa teacher held for allegedly molesting 7-year-old student

Locals in Chougacha, Jashore, caught and handed over a madrasa teacher to police after he was accused of molesting a 7-year-old student. The incident took place around 8pm on Friday, August 7, under the Narayanpur Kopotaksha river bridge in the upazila.

The detained teacher, Hafez Nazmul Islam, 35, is the son of Abu Sayeed Sheikh from Kulbaria village in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district. He is a teacher at Hafizia Baitul Mamun Madrasa in Mollapara area of Jashore city.

The victim's uncle, Imon Hossain, said his 7-year-old nephew is a student at the madrasa. On the day of the incident, the accused teacher took the boy to their ancestral home in Narayanpur on Friday morning. In the evening, he took the child to the Narayanpur Kopotaksha river bridge area under the pretext of buying snacks. There, he allegedly molested the child after threatening him. Local people caught the teacher when they became aware of the incident and beat him. Later, police arrived at the scene and took him into custody.

The family claimed that the child had previously informed them that the accused teacher had behaved inappropriately with him before.

Chougacha Police Station OC Mamunur Rashid confirmed the incident and said a case has been filed against the accused madrasa teacher based on the complaint. The incident is being investigated and legal action will be taken.
