Madrasa teacher held for indecent proposal to female colleague in Jashore

Allegations have been raised against the founder and head teacher of a madrasa in Jashore for making indecent proposals, inappropriate comments and harassing a female teacher. The victim teacher has filed a written complaint with Kotwali Model Police Station. Following the complaint, police have taken the accused teacher into custody.

The accused, Ishtiaq Hossain, is the founder and head teacher of an Islamia Cadet Madrasa in Bolia-Bhekutia area of Jashore Sadar upazila. The complainant also teaches at the same madrasa.

According to the complaint, the teacher was married around six years ago and has a daughter. Due to various family and personal issues, she has been living at her father's house for nearly two years.

The teacher alleged that the head teacher had been making indecent proposals and inappropriate comments to her for a long time.

The complaint said on August 5, around 11am, while at work at the madrasa, the head teacher called her to his room. Finding the matter suspicious, she turned on the audio recorder on her mobile phone before entering the office room.

Later, upon entering the room, the head teacher made various obscene, inappropriate and objectionable remarks to her, according to the complaint. She was also threatened in various ways, it added.

Later, when the audio recording of the conversation was played to other teachers and staff, tension and protests erupted at the madrasa. At one point, teachers and staff informed the police.

Upon receiving the news, police went to the scene and took the madrasa head teacher Ishtiaq Hossain into custody.

Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Babul said a complaint has been filed with the police station over the incident. Following the complaint, the head teacher has been taken into custody. Preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.
