Madrasa teacher held for sexually harassing student in Savar

Police have arrested a madrasa teacher, Md Kamruzzaman, 36, on charge of sexually harassing a student in Savar upazila, Dhaka.

Savar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Imran Hossain confirmed the matter on Saturday afternoon, May 23.

The accused teacher is currently in police custody, and preparations are underway to file a case against him.

Kamruzzaman was a teacher at a girls' madrasa in the Kamalapur area of Savar. According to the complaint, he allegedly sexually harassed a student on Friday afternoon after finding her alone in the classroom. The student later informed her parents about the incident.

Outraged locals went to the madrasa on Saturday morning, detained the teacher and handed him over to police.

The victim's family is preparing to file a case. Police said the accused would be formally shown as arrested after the case is filed.
