Madrasa teacher sent to jail after remand
The accused madrasa teacher in the controversial child rape and pregnancy incident in Madan upazila of Netrokona has been sent to jail on the orders of the court after remand.
When he was produced in court after a three-day remand, Mohsina Islam ordered him to be sent to jail on Sunday afternoon (May 10).
It is learned that the accused was not presented in open court as the lawyers were on strike due to the death of a senior lawyer of the District Bar Association. The court has ordered him to be produced again on May 21.
The investigation officer of the case, SI Md. Akhtaruzzaman, questioned him during the remand.
Police said that the victim has already given a statement under Section 22 in the court, where she directly complained against the accused teacher.
Earlier, a team of RAB-14 arrested the accused teacher from Gouripur area of Mymensingh and handed him over to the police. Later, the court granted him a three-day remand.
Madan Police Station OC Tariqul Islam said that although a seven-day remand was requested, the court granted a three-day remand. After interrogation, he was presented in court. The DNA collection process is still ongoing.
According to local sources, a woman in the upazila, Aman Ullah Sagar, director and teacher of a Qawmi Madrasa, was accused of raping a student multiple times.
Later, when the victim became pregnant, the matter came to light and created a huge stir in the area. Later, the victim's family filed a case with the police station.
