Magura child rape and murder verdict remains unexecuted one year on
One year after a death sentence was handed down in the Maguura child rape and murder case, the verdict has yet to be executed, prompting frustration from the victim’s family.
The trial against convicted Hitu Sheikh was completed within 14 working days, after which a court issued the death penalty. Despite the passage of a year, the execution process has not moved forward.
The victim’s mother said the family continues to wait without clarity, expressing anguish over the delay. She also claimed they have not received adequate support and are facing ongoing hardship.
Lawyers for the convicted accused said an appeal has been filed in the higher court, and the execution process will depend on the outcome of the appeal.
The case had previously triggered nationwide outrage and demands for swift justice and maximum punishment.
