Humayun Kabir, Assistant Presiding Officer at the Arapara Sadar Alim Madrasa centre in Shalikha upazila under the Magura-2 constituency for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, has been relieved of his duties. Information regarding this was confirmed through concerned sources on Wednesday, February 11.

Humayun Kabir is the Ameer of Shalikha upazila's Shatkhali union Jamaat-e-Islami and a religious studies teacher at Baulia Nirod Krishna Secondary School. His residence is in the Katli Madhyapara village of Shalikha upazila. He is the son of Rajab Ali Sarder of that village.

According to concerned sources, information regarding Humayun Kabir's party position and affiliation emerged during verification by DSB and various intelligence agencies. Concerns arose that his impartiality in performing election duties could be questioned, leading to his removal from the position of Assistant Presiding Officer at centre number 48, Arapara Sadar Alim Madrasa.

Shalikha Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer Boni Amin said authorities were not initially aware of his party position. Although the verification process was ongoing, the matter had not come to attention earlier. Following confirmation of the information, he was relieved of his duties.

He further informed that Sohel Arman, Shalikha upazila Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer, has been appointed as Assistant Presiding Officer in place of Humayun Kabir.
