Magura's Amjad makes 7.5-kilometer German flag with land sale money
Amjad Hossain, a farmer-fan of Magura, has set a unique example of immense love for the German football team. On the occasion of the World Cup, he made a large flag measuring about seven and a half kilometers long, for which he spent the money from selling his land.
He displayed this long flag at the Nischintapur High School ground in Magura Sadar Upazila at 10 am on Wednesday (June 10). Hundreds of people from different areas gathered to see the flag, which created great enthusiasm in the area.
Amjad Hossain is the son of Nehal Uddin Molya of Ghoramara village in Sadar Upazila. He is a farmer by profession. It is known that he was seriously ill around 2004-2005. After a long treatment, he claimed that he recovered after taking homeopathic medicine from Germany at one point. From that time, his deep love for the German football team began.
Later, Amjad took the initiative to make the flag with his own money, supporting Germany in the World Cup. The work cost about five lakh taka, for which he sold part of his farmland.
He had previously made a three and a half kilometer long flag for the 2014 World Cup. At that time, he raised money by selling land, but due to various reasons, Amjad said, he could not implement all of the plans.
He said that this time, he sold another 10 percent of the land to make this huge flag. He also has plans to organize even bigger events if Germany wins the World Cup in the future.
Amjad Hossain said that if Germany wins the title, he will make a flag on a larger scale in 2030, which he hopes will extend from Bhaina in Magura to Simakhali.
This exceptional initiative of his has generated curiosity and discussion among the locals.
